As the Detachment Commander of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, I would like to thank the Dufferin OPP Police Service Boards for providing this platform for the Dufferin Detachment to share information on community safety and crime prevention.  An informed public working together with the police provides the best opportunity to ensure that our community stays safe and secure.  In reviewing past trends and speaking with the community, Dufferin OPP has identified that there are three main areas the police need to focus on: Traffic Issues, Thefts and Mischief to Property and Visibility.  These are areas that the Dufferin Detachment is working on every day.  It is my hope that by reading the safety tips and crime prevention information linked to from this site your home and your community will become a safer and more secure place to live.  Please contact me at the Dufferin OPP Detachment if you have any thoughts on additional information you would like to see on this webpage that would assist in these goals.

Police Services Board Amaranth

Amaranth residents can feel safe and secure knowing that the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are patrolling our roads, residents and businesses. We have a long-standing healthy relationship with the OPP and the many officers that have served our community over the years.
Congratulations is extended to the OPP officers in Amaranth and its residents for a safe community, as crime and traffic violations continue to decrease. Occasionally disasters strike, and it is reassuring to see the OPP with their tactical support, canine control, helicopter services and investigation units respond to these emergency situations. Above all, it has been our experience that the OPP officers are ready and willing to serve the community in a friendly and courteous manner and we applaud their dedication and outstanding performance.
The Amaranth Police Services Board congratulate the Ontario Provincial Police for building the new Dufferin OPP Detachment at Primrose, a state-of-the art facility, that will serve Dufferin residents for many years to come.
